Turks & Caicos - Diving

( Click On Any Photo For A Larger Version )

Turks & Caicos diving is wall diving. The islands poke out of a large flat plain ( 100+ square miles ). Most of it covered with about 40 feet of water. At the edges of this 'plain' it goes almost strait down to 6000 feet. These are the walls that provide the best diving. The photo above was taken from the plane on our flight out. It shows part of an island ( green ), the light blue below is the shallow water ( around 40 feet ), the deep blue at the bottom of the photo is where the depth of the ocean drops to 6000 feet.

A great above / below water shot. Jenny is sitting on the edge of the boat getting ready to dive.

A type of Grouper called Graysby

This lobster has found a great spot inside this Giant Barrel Sponge.

Bob Smith. This is an untouched photo. The water is really this blue. The deeper you go the bluer everything gets.

A Striped Parrotfish. Named for their beak that is used to crush coral to get at the polyps inside.

This is a photo of an old encrusted anchor. The shaft is in the center of the photo from right to left with the top toward the left. The hooks at the bottom of the anchor are on the right side spanning from top to bottom.
